About Us

Our Mission

The Earth Center Conservancy inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which promotes the conservation of natural resources, environmental stewardship, horticulture and gardening. We seek to secure financial support through grant writing and fundraising to develop and expand the Earth Center's horticultural and educational programs.

The Earth Center

Located in Davidson Mill Pond Park, the Earth Center's mission is to provide sound, research-based information to meet the needs of Middlexex County residents. Education programs, demonstrations and tours are conducted in beautiful, themed gardens installed and maintained by Middlesex County Master Gardeners and community volunteers.

Rows For The Hungry

The Barbara Krutzel Butterfly House

Rows for the Hungry is a legacy donation garden whose primary objective is to grow and donate fresh produce to various clients while creating a comprehensive "mini-farm" program for volunteers with tutuorial and hands on experience.

The Butterfly House is open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until noon - June through the end of August.

Saturday, June 13th, 9:30a.m: Where Bugs Go To Bed

Become a bug explorer! Learn about various kinds of garden insects, why they're super important, and where they like to hide. Then build your very own bug hotel to take home and welcome tiny guests to your garden!

Saturday, July 11th, 9:30a.m: Nature's Palette - Colors in the Garden

Come explore the amazing colors found in the garden. We will look closely at flowers and leaves to discern nature's palette, then use these colors as inspiration for some fun art activities.

Saturday, September 19th, 9:30a.m: Dreaming Your Garden for Next Year

Large seeds, small seeds, we're collecting all seeds! Seeds are full of potential for next year's garden. Come learn how to collect seeds, design a seed packet, and create a collage that reflects your colorful garden dreams for next year.

How to Register for Workshops

Advanced registration is required for all workshops. Families can call  732-398-5262 or email extensionservices@co.middlesex.nj.us  to register.

Additional Information

The recommended age for workshop participants is 5 to 12 . An adult should plan to stay and participate with their child.

2026 Grant Program

  • The annual ECC Grant Program offers funding of $1 to $500 dollars to all Earth Center gardens for any project. A total of $1,500 is available and will be awarded to multiple applicants. To apply, applicants must submit an ECC Grant Application by the date indicated below. Gardens that have "restricted funds" with the ECC can apply for a grant only AFTER they have exhausted their restricted funds or WILL exhaust them as part of the grant. A completed application requires the approval and signature of the Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator of Middlesex County.


  • Applicants may apply for grants from $1 to $500.00


  • APPLICATION DEADLINE - JUNE 18, 2026
